DESIGN The connector housings are moulded from synthetic elastomeric material
serving both as insulation and sheath to fully enclose the pins and sockets of connectors.
l`he material is suitable for direct earth burial, submergence in water, and capable of
withstanding limited chemical; oil, or gasoline attach. The connector housings are
withstands exposure to direct sunlight and to ozone. The connectors are designed for
continuous use within a temperature range of - 40°C to + 65°C while exposed to weather,
submerged in water, or buried in the earth.
The pins and sockets are designed to conform to the dimensional and construction
requirements as indicates on the applicable figure of FAA L-823. Pins and sockets are made
of materials that contain at least 98 percent cooper. The pin and socket are
electro-plated with nickel to provide good electrical contact. The sockets are slotted and
spring loaded to insure good electrical contact.
The main characteristics shall be equal to or better than those given in table below.
MAIN CHARACTERISTICS
Rated voltage |
600 V |
Resistance between conductor of
one pair connectors and water, after 24 hours in a tap water bath at room temperature,
20-25 °C, measured with 500 V source. |
>25 GOhm |
Resistance between conductor of
one pair connectors and water, after 24 hours in a tap water bath at room temperature,
20-25 °C, and manually flexed for 2 minutes measured with 500 V source. |
>25 GOhm |
Test voltage, 5 minutes |
4,7 kV |
Resistance between conductor of
one pair connectors and water, after 24 hours in a tap water bath at room temperature,
20-25 °C, and 1 hour at 65°C, measured with 500 V source. |
>10 GOHm |
Voltage drop across mated
connectors |
<6 mV |
REQUIREMENTS FOR
ASSEMBLIES
These kits shall only be assembled by skilled technicians, supervised by a specialist
to ensure their electrical, mechanical and watertightness properties reach the expected
standards. For connection accessories using nature rubber, the shelf life, storage and use
temperatures shall not be exceeded.
ORDERING DATA
Connector kit model numbers are different for specific applications and are size
sensitive to both cable diameters and wire sizes. Therefore to select the correct complete
catalogue number you need to know:
Application
For use on 2 core cable or 2 single conductors.
Configuratiore
Plug (male) or (female).
Cable Diameter
The outside diameter of the cable or conductors is required for correct kit sizing.
From the chart select the correct code letters and list them in the sequence shown.
Wire Size & Type
The standard wire size is 2, 4 or 6 mm2.
